Appliance leaks
Washing machine or dishwasher leaking?
Water on the kitchen floor after a wash? Most leaks come from the plumbing behind the machine, not the machine itself — and that's a quick, cheap fix.
Check these first
Step 1
Turn the water off
Turn the small valve on the pipe behind the machine (lever across the pipe = off), or use your main stopcock.
Step 2
Check the filler hose
Look at both ends of the hose. A loose or cracked fitting is the most common cause.
Step 3
Check the waste pipe
If it only leaks while draining, the waste pipe or trap under the sink is usually blocked or loose.

Appliance leak FAQs
Can I keep using the machine?
Not until the leak is found — water under units can quickly damage flooring and cupboards.
Do you fix the machine itself?
We fix the plumbing — valves, hoses, waste pipes and traps. If the fault is inside the machine, we'll tell you straight away.
