Water leak? How to turn your water off
Water pouring out? Turn it off first, then call us on 07791 178784. Here's where to find your stopcock.
Where your stopcock usually is
Most common
Under the kitchen sink
Look for a tap on the pipe coming up through the floor. Turn clockwise to close.
Common
Under the stairs or in a cupboard
Often near where the pipe enters the house.
Sometimes
Downstairs toilet or utility room
Check behind panels or low on the wall.
Last resort
Outside by the pavement
A small cover near your boundary — needs a stopcock key.
Once the water's off
Turn off the boiler and any electrics near the water. Open cold taps to drain the pipes. Put towels or buckets down.
