← Toilet problems

Toilet handle or button broken?

A floppy handle or a button that stays down is one of the most common toilet faults we fix — and usually one of the quickest.

Checks you can safely do yourself

Check the linkage

Lift the lid and see whether the arm, chain or cable has simply come off. Reconnect it if you can.

Tighten the handle nut

Lever handles are held by a nut inside the cistern — it often just works loose.

Sticking button

Remove the button and clean out limescale. If the rods are bent, the button needs replacing.
