← Toilet problems

Toilet slow to refill?

If you're waiting minutes for the cistern to refill, it's usually a partly closed valve or a fill valve clogged with limescale or debris.

Try this first — free

Checks you can safely do yourself

Open the isolation valve

Turn the screw slot on the supply pipe so it's in line with the pipe — fully open.

Check other taps

If every tap is weak, it may be low mains pressure rather than the toilet.

Loft tank?

Some older toilets are fed from a cold tank in the loft — check it's full and the ball valve works.
